Cool iPhone Apps - Ones I Use All the Time

I happen to use both Android phones and iPhones but to be honest I often use my iPhone a lot more than I use my Android phone. As a result I am often asked what iPhone apps I use. While it does vary from time to time here are the ones that I like and use the most:

  • Dropbox. Excellent way to store, share and access files from my various devices. Whether it be my computer, mobile phone or tablet. Cannot say enough about this app and works well!
  • BeejiveIM. Yes I still use IM. When I do use it this app works great. It allows me to chat with my colleagues and friends whether they are still on Yahoo, Gchat, or whatever. Simple, elegant and effective.
  • Vimeo. Great service. Love the app. When I want to take a video with my iPhone and want to upload it, Vimeo fits the bill. Also I like the fact that I do not have to worry about a size limit. Thank goodness for unlimited data plan! ;)
  • Squarespace. Since I have a Squarespace account, this app was a no brainer. Very simple for doing quick previews, updates and traffic this app does what I want most while on the go.
  • Instagram. Another great application. Take a quick snapshot, modify it, then off it goes! Great for those taking a lot of pics :)
  • Panorama. When I want to take a wide shot, I have been impressed with Panorama. It's simple, effective and does a darned good job of composing multiple pictures into one wide-angle photo.
  • Zapd. Nice little app. I like to think of it like Instagram on steroids. Being able to put a lot of other optional items around a photo that others can visit is great. And yes it's true, you can create a website in minutes.
  • Pandora Radio. Internet radio the way I want it. Love this service.
  • TuneIn Radio. Nice app to listen to all the local news stations. Perfect when I want to listen to a specific station!
  • Shazam. Ever hear a song and want to know what it is? Shazam fits the bill perfectly. Excellent app!
  • Tango. A service to allow video chat over 3G and WiFi, Tango is an awesome app! Works better than Facetime in almost every way.
  • Jump Desktop. For work purposes, Jump Desktop is an awesome little app. It is simple to use, and easy to install. Not that I advocate having to log into your desktop all the time, but when you absolutely have to, this app comes in really handy!
  • Netflix. When I want that movie fix, Netflix fits the bill. It's a great service that works on my phone, tablet and computer. Well worth it!
  • Weatherbug. Awesome app for weather. Has a lot of information available in a really simple app.
  • MealSnap. When I want to watch what I eat, MealSnap works well. Just take a picture and see what it will cost you at the gym! Great tracking of what you have eaten too :)
  • VLC. When I want to watch movies that are not in a format that my iPhone understands VLC comes to the rescue. I watch a lot of different formatted videos because let's face it, providers use a lot of different formats and I am not going to convert them all.
  • Pulse News. This app is awesome for following my newsfeeds. It is exceptional on my iPad. Highly recommend it.
  • GoodReader. When you want to access a lot of different documents, GoodReader is it. Hands down, it is the most versatile app for documents and files and I use it all the time! Highly recommend it.
  • Kindle for iPhone. If you have a Kindle account this is a great application to have for those times you forget your Kindle at home or in your bag.
  • Instapaper. For offline reading this app is an excellent way to read those articles that people recommend and that I find the most interesting.
  • Light. Simple app that makes the most of your iPhone flash capabilities. Great impromptu flashlight! ;)
  • Twitter. Still the most elegant, simple and effective app for my Twitter stream on my phone.
  • Facebook. The best way to use Facebook while on the go.
  • Calvetica. Great calendar app that is easy to use, great to read, and awesome to work with.
  • Talkatone. I had my doubts on this app. However after using it for the past month or so it is absolutely great! More reliable than other applications of it's kind, easy to use, and totally free! Awesome work!

I am certain that as I have other needs, more applications will make it onto this list!
